Our 2020 Fiesta medal has arrived! Designed by owner Mario Diaz, it is available for purchase in store at Feliz Modern on Olmos, Feliz Modern Pop at the Pearl, and online. The medals are $8 and doubles as a bottle opener! A portion of our fiesta medal sales will be donated to the charity of your choice. When you purchase a medal with us IN STORE you will vote for your charity and at the end of fiesta we will make a donation based on the votes we have received. One of the most interesting aspects of Fiesta is the collection and exchange of fiesta medals. We have enjoyed adding our own designs to this unique tradition! According to the History of the Texas Cavaliers, the fiesta medal origins can be traced to 1946 when King Antonio first began giving out metal coins at parades. The first official fiesta medal on record is in 1971 and they were initially believed to be distributed by fiesta royalty.
Since their origins, fiesta medals have spread to businesses, organizations, and individual artists. Whether medals are being made to promote a cause, raise funds, or simply because people have a special design in mind, they are widely sought out items every year. There are some people in town whose collections are in the thousands.
